MAGSR Males Available for Adoption
Forest

Forest and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Forest and his buddy, Jenny, were lucky to have grown up in a loving home that had planned to love them for a lifetime. Forest joined the family as a baby and was immediately adored. Jenny joined a little later when another family in the area needed to rehome her. She was immediately adored. Like "peas and carrots" these two lived side by side in an incredible household. Unfortunately, things simply don't always work out the way we plan. When circumstances changed unexpectedly in their home, it became clear that it was in both dogs best interest that they be rehomed. This is never an easy decision; it is often one of the hardest choices a family must make. However, their family knew this was what was best for both dogs. When asked if we could help both dogs move forward with loving families that would last a lifetime, team MAGSR stepped forward.
Forest is a big, confident guy. He confidently takes in the world around him and is a stabilizing force. More playful and outgoing than his sister, this guy will fill his forever home with endless antics. A huge fan of toys, Forest has high hopes that his forever family will maintain a large number of toys in the household providing him with plenty of options. Typical of most young dogs, Forest is an active guy. He is happiest when both his body and his mind are exercised on a daily basis. A lucky guy, Forest has had the opportunity to begin building his good canine citizenship skills and is participating in training. This has helped Forest enhance his leash manners and develop commands. Although Forest is building a solid foundation, it is critical that Forest's forever family continue training. Not only will training help Forest build a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him continue to solidify his good canine citizenship skills.
Having lived in a loving household, Forest is already housebroken and crate trained. He understands many of the ins and outs of living in a home. However, it is critical that his forever family provides him with structure, routine, leadership, and clear expectations. With these key aspects in place, Forest will thrive. Forest is looking for a home that will enjoy his goofy personality and provide him with endless opportunities to meet with success. If this big guy sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet him today!
Jason
Jason and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Jovial Jason was picked up as a stray in the south. When he arrived at a shelter, it was discovered that he had a large, open wound on his back leg. As this shelter, like so many others, was sitting above capacity, once Jason's stray hold was completed, he was placed on the list to be euthanized. This handsome guy was incredibly lucky as he was pulled at the last minute by another rescue. Although they knew that Jason would need to be transferred to another rescue, this group knew that Jason deserved every opportunity to move forward safely.
Jason was fortunate to have been in a foster home for a few months before moving into the MAGSR family. During this time he was able to begin receiving the medical support needed to start the healing process. With debris cleaned out of his leg, medication provided, and six weeks of rehab in place, Jason's leg healed nicely allowing him to return to regular activities and playtime. Having endless opportunities to socialize with other large dogs, Jason greatly enjoys play time. He has an active and enthusiastic play style. However, we have learned that he gets a little too excited about cats and farm animals. He will not be placed in a home with these creatures. Having lived in a home, Jason has begun to learn the ins and outs of living in a household. He is housebroken and crate trained. As is true of all dogs, Jason will need time to adjust to the expectations, structure, and routines of his forever family. With time, patience, and leadership, we know he will succeed. As Jason moves forward, training will be key to his success. Training will not only help Jason create a strong and healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Jason is heartworm positive. This prognosis could have been prevented if Jason has been provided with monthly preventatives. Although heartworm treatment is expensive, MAGSR knows that Jason is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to Jason's treatment. Not only will your donation help Jason get the care he needs, but it will also help us welcome other dogs with medical needs. Jason's treatment has already begun and he is more than half-way finished! He will need to take it easy over the next month or so as he finishes up. Jason is an amazing guy that is hoping to find a family that will love him for a lifetime. Could that be with you?
Update:Jovial Jason has been living with a foster while undergoing heartworm treatment. He loves to play, chew his toys, and rolls right over for a belly rub. He’s an energetic love-bug and no-doubt looking forward to being free of heartworms. Jason is very enthusiastic and will need a family committed to exercising him both mentally and physically.
Update:
After being with his foster for a while, he's adjusting to home life very well and, with his energy, responds well to structure in the home. He's now obedience-trained and crate-trained. Similarly to his prior update, his foster family has discovered more things he loves: walks, food, squirrel-watching, going in the car, and so many other things! He loves belly rubs and belly rubs and belly rubs! Even though it's already been said, it's worth mentioning that this guy really loves belly rubs! Even though he's not a cat guy, Jason definitely loves to meet people and he's been doing great as one of our MAGSR ambassadors at events. He wants to meet you too!
Update:
Jason came to MAGSR with heartworm and a pre-existing injury in his leg, both of which kept him restricted to very light activity, but he's come a long way in his recovery since these things were diagnosed in 2023. He's officially out of treatment now that he's tested negative for heartworm and is free again to run and play. His leg only shows some stiffness when he overdoes it (which is his favourite thing to do!) but it never seems to bother him. He'll just limp and run on three legs for a bit as the happy boy that he is - he doesn't let it slow him down and, in fact, he'd run until his leg falls off if you let him! Now that he's made this progress, he's finally free to do his favourite things -- he can tap into his silly and goofy side and run and play when he wants, maybe destroy a toy here and there, or he can tap into his very affectionate side and be a total velcro pup that loves to cuddle and get belly rubs. Now that this bright boy is free from his health restrictions, he just needs to find his perfect forever family. Could that be you?
Kai

Kai and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Handsome Kai and his sweet buddy, Kash, were absolutely adored by their family. Having grown up in a loving home, these boys had everything they needed and thrived. Unfortunately, when a new member joined the household, a severe allergy developed. Kai and Kash's family worked with doctors to address this allergy so that the family could remain together, but these measures proved unsuccessful and the boys were moved to a separate part of the home. Although they still received as much attention as possible, a complete separation was necessary in order to keep everyone healthy. The family remained this way for some time; however, they knew this wasn't fair to Kash and Kai. Recognizing that the boys would need to be rehomed for everyone's safety and happiness, Kash and Kai's family reach out for help. This was not an easy decision, but it was the best option to help the boys move forward. Knowing both Kash and Kai were incredible dogs that deserved a safe option to move forward, they were welcomed to the MAGSR family.
Kai is a friendly guy who has a definite cuddly side. An incredible velcro dog, this boy loves being close to his people and makes an incredible shadow. Having a strong love of the outdoors, Kai is beyond happy to get a good long breath of fresh air, sniff the flowers, and go on an adventure. Daily opportunities to run around outside, go for a walk, and enjoy being in nature bring him endless joy. Although he has been socialized around other dogs, Kai is most content with his buddy, Kash. He would be more than happy settling into his forever family with Kash at his side. Having lived in a GSD savvy home, Kai has learned the ins and outs of living in a household. He is house-broken and crate trained. However, as is often true with the breed, he will chew on things that are left in the crate with him. Crate safe items only please! True of all new dogs, Kai will need time to adjust to his forever family. With structure, routine, leadership, and daily activities, Kai will thrive. Training will be key to his success. Although he already knows some basics, training will help Kai develop a strong and healthy bond with his forever family. In addition, it will help him develop the skills he needs to become a good canine citizen.
Kai is looking for an active forever family that will provide him with the leadership he craves as well as the shadow he is so ready to fill. If you are looking for a constant companion, look no further than Kai!

Kash is an outdoorsy guy. He loves the fresh air, freedom to run around, and the sunshine. A ball guy through and through, Kash is hardly ever found without a ball in his mouth or right next to him. Happy to chill with the ball, Kash keeps it close for security. However, he is beyond excited to play fetch with his people. He is hoping that his forever family is ready to keep their throwing arm in good shape. Comfortable with other dogs, Kash has been well-socialized. He is most comfortable with his buddy, Kai, and wouldn't mind resettling in a home with his partner in crime. Having lived in a GSD savvy home, Kash has learned the ins and outs of living in a household. He is house-broken and crate trained. He will even help you keep things clean, as dirty clothes are his one vice. True of all new dogs, Kash will need time to adjust to his forever family. With structure, routine, leadership, and daily activities, Kash will thrive. Training will be key to his success. Although he already knows some basics, training will help Kash develop a strong and healthy bond with his forever family. In addition, it will help him develop the skills he needs to become a good canine citizen.
Kash is looking for an incredible forever family that enjoys a solid companion, an outdoor adventure, and a good game of fetch. If this stunning boy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet Kash today!
Poseidon

Poseidon and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Precious Poseidon is one of the lucky dogs who has lived in an incredible household where he has been cherished. Although his family adored this big, handsome guy, when circumstances changed, his family began searching for rescue placement so that Poseidon could move forward safely with an amazing family that would love him. Surrendering a member of the family is never an easy decision. It is not a choice that any family comes to lightly; however, Poseidon's family knew that it was in his best interest to say goodbye. We promised that we would do everything we could to ensure that Poseidon found an incredible match.
Intelligent, social, and clearly a stunning guy, Poseidon (Psy) embodies many of your typical GSD traits. Curious about his environment while also very aware of his surroundings, Psy, like most shepherds, doesn't miss a beat. He is capable, engaging, and protective when he needs to be. An active guy, Psy greatly enjoys getting out and about on a daily basis. True of most shepherds, Psy does best when both his body and his mind are exercised on a daily basis. This helps him maintain stability. Having always lived in a pack, Psy is looking for a home that has another dog. He thrives in this environment and is not successful without canine companions. However, as is true of all new furry family members, Psy will need time to build solid and lasting relationships with his new pack members. Time, patience, training, and opportunities to meet with success will help him adjust to his forever family. Psy already knows many of the ins and outs of living in a household. He is housebroken and crate trained, but does prefer a stronger crate for safety. With routine, structure, and leadership, Psy thrives in the household. True of all new dogs, Psy will need to participate in training. Not only will training help Psy build a healthy and lasting bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. With a few commands already in place, this guy is ready to continue learning.
Poseidon is an amazing guy who is looking for an active family who will ensure he has plenty of toys, daily opportunities to exercise, and endless love. If Poseidon sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet this handsome guy today!
Rico
Rico and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Grab your tissues for this heartwarming story of selflessness and love—a true Christmas Miracle.
While visiting Mexico, an amazing couple encountered a man caring for a pack of homeless dogs. When the couple asked this man what they could do to help him, he begged them to save a puppy in dire need. The pup was injured and the man worried that this baby would not survive without help and fast. That puppy was Rico, who had been brutally beaten with a metal pipe. Unsure what to do at first, they approached Rico who was lying in the bushes nearby. Although clearly in severe pain, Rico managed to greet his visitors with gentle kisses and sorrowful eyes. Knowing they couldn’t leave Rico to die in the streets, this couple made the selfless decision to step and do everything they could to save him.
Recognizing that time was of the essence, the couple found a veterinary hospital where they learned he had broken hips and severe internal organ damage. Additionally, Rico had been shot with pellets remaining near his vertebrae—a surgery too risky to undergo without more advanced surgical options. Despite these injuries, the couple knew that this boy deserved every opportunity to live. So, they began working with the medical team at the veterinary hospital to provide Rico with the care he needed to move forward. After tests, blood draws, vaccines, a neuter, an FHO, and physical therapy had been completed, it appeared that Rico was on the mend. However, concerns about continued kidney inflammation began to worry Rico's veterinary team. Unfortunately, they did not have the resources or expertise to do more. Recognizing that Rico needed more advanced care that could be found in the United States, the couple began pleading with the rescue community for help. Although they contacted endless numbers of rescues, with numbers at critical levels in most places, they struggled to find placement. Knowing that Rico needed additional help as soon as possible, they continued their search. When our team learned that Rico needed placement, we knew he was meant to be a MASGR dog. We welcomed Rico the family and promised him that we would help him get the care he needed to move forward.
Over the last month, Rico our incredible team has been working with Rico to get him the help he needs to move forward safely. Living in an incredible foster home, Rico is being doted on daily. He loves his foster family both human and canine, particularly his foster mom. An absolute sweetheart, Rico is gentle, loving, and a total cuddle bug. He is the definition of a velcro dog and will happily fall asleep in the arms of his foster mom. As Rico has needed significant medical support, our team has been slowly moving from one need to the next guided by our phenomenal vetting partners. Needing rounds of antibiotics, surgical intervention, and recovery time, Rico has been a star patient. He seems to know that our team is doing everything we can to ensure that he meets with success. Rico is currently recovering from his first surgery, but will need another in the near future. The cost of his care is very expensive. Please consider donating to Rico's medical needs. Your donation will not only help us continue to support Rico along his healing journey, but it will also help us continue to welcome dogs with medical needs.
When he is ready for adoption, Rico will be looking for a patient family that will give him time to adjust to the routines and expectations of the household. He hopes that they will have plenty of cozy beds and will fill his days with endless snuggles. We will provide updates as Rico's journey continues.
Rocky
Rocky and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Rocky and his buddy, Misty, were adopted from MAGSR a few years ago by an amazing family. They were cherished beyond words and have known the power of love. Sometimes life throws a curveball and things change in an instant. When an unexpected circumstance arose, their family knew that Rocky and Misty needed a safe place to land. So, they contacted MAGSR. Knowing these dogs were lucky to have an incredible family that would do anything for them including giving them up, we immediately welcomed both Rocky and Misty back to the MAGSR family.
Rocky is a big, sweet, loving boy. Social, affectionate, and always ready for a good lean in, when Rocky loves you, he loves you with his whole heart. An alpha by nature, this honey leads with a calm and confident nature. He knows exactly who he is and has a stable personality. Having lived in a phenomenal home, Rocky appreciates the joy of a soft, warm bed, endless toys, and daily interactions. Crate trained, housebroken, and comfortable with the daily activities of a household, this boy understands the expectations of living in a home. However, as is true of any new dog, Rocky will need time to adjust to the expectations, rules, and routines of his new family. A smart guy, Rocky already knows several commands. He enjoys daily walks and is happy to hang out with his people outside. Although he has some training on board, Rocky will benefit from attending training with his new family. Not only will training help Rocky develop a strong and healthy bond with his family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Handsome Rocky is looking for a forever family that has plenty of toys, treats, and snuggles. If your family is looking for a calm, confident, and playful guy who will fill your home with love, ask to meet Rocky today.
Shep
Shep and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Stunning Shep was picked up as a stray in the south and brought to a local animal control. Upon arrival, it was highly evident that this boy needed medical attention as soon as possible. With a severe ear infection and raw, painful paws, and underweight Shep was incredibly uncomfortable and in need of help. Fortunately, the right people heard about Shep's situation and began working with rescue groups to find a temp foster and rescue placement. When asked if we could provide Shep with a rescue option, team MAGSR knew that Shep would make an incredible addition to the family. With an amazing foster family in place, we welcomed this handsome boy to the MAGSR family.
Recognizing that Shep needed medical support right away, we worked with several groups to ensure he had what he needed. Shep had his medical needs addressed and was placed in a loving home to recuperate. Seeming to understand that this was his chance to decompress and let the healing process happen, Shep took some time to relax and get healthy again. Once he started feeling better, we were able to move him to one of our experienced foster homes where Shep had the chance to start acting like a dog again. An active guy with a high ball drive, Shep's all-time favorite activities involve balls. He will happily chase and mouth a ball for hours. In fact, it seems that he is hoping that his forever family has an affinity for throwing as, in his mind, humans are meant to be his personal throwing machine. Still learning the finer points of playing, Shep still needs some time to further decompress and learn the ins and outs of appropriate play. This guy is looking for an active family that will provide the structure, routine, and expectations needed to meet the needs of a headstrong shepherd. He would likely be happiest with a job, like nosework, or an activity, like treibball. With a little refinement, Shep would likely excel at Rally or flyball! Living in a foster home, Shep is learning the ins and outs of living in a home. He is learning to crate train and housebreak. He is also learning about the general routines and expectations of living in a GSD savvy home. However, he will need time and patience to adjust to the expectations and routines of his forever family. As is true of all dogs, training will be key to Shep's success. Not only will training help Shep build a healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.
Shep is your typical teenage shepherd seeking attention and a good time. If you are looking for an intelligent, fun-loving, active shepherd, Shep could be the guy for you!
Shotsy

Shotsy and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Some dogs seem to go through more pain, hardship, and loss than we could fathom. If they could share their stories, people would be beyond surprised at how affectionate and charismatic so many of these dogs remain after having endured so much. Shotsy is one of those dogs. He is a true survivor. No one knows exactly what Shotsy went through prior to his arrival at animal control. We do know that people were not always kind to this big guy. Picked up as a stray, Shotsy was brought to an animal shelter that was sitting at critical capacity. The minute he walked in the door, he was in grave danger. With limited resources, extreme overcrowding, and a wealth of new sights, smells, and sounds, Shotsy was overwhelmed and wasn't showing well in the shelter environment. As a result, when his stray hold ended, Shotsy was moved to the list to be euthanized. At the last second, an incredible couple pulled Shotsy hoping to help him move forward.
Recognizing that this senior boy needed some medical and social support, the couple got Shotsy everything he needed to meet with success. He had all of his medical needs addressed and even had a dental completed. He also had the chance to work with a trainer and start developing his manners. In addition, Shotsy had the opportunity to learn some of the ins and outs of living in a loving home with comfortable places to sleep and regular meals. Although the couple adored Shotsy, they knew that he needed a different type of household in order to meet with success. So, they made the decision to reach out to rescues for help to ensure that Shotsy could move forward safely with breed specific knowledge to support his success.
Shotsy is a handsome and intelligent boy. He, like so many GSDs, reads the handler very well, quickly determining what he can and cannot get away with. With a calm, confident, and controlled handler, Shotsy shines. He adjusts well to clear rules, structure, and boundaries; however, like any typical GSD, he will try to take advantage of the situation if the opportunity presents itself. As a dominant male, Shotsy is happy to take on the role of alpha if given the opportunity. Already knowing several commands, Shotsy likes to work and appreciates having high expectations. Although this guy has had some training already, continued training will be key to his success. Training will not only help Shotsy develop a balanced and healthy relationship with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. A playful guy at heart, Shotsy is hoping that his forever family has plenty of toys. Toys that squeak and balls are some of his favorites. A handler with a good throwing arm sounds like a perfect match to Shotsy. When playtime is over each day, his perfect evening involves a good meal, a brushing, and a belly rub before bed.
Shotsy is looking for a loving, patient, and structured family that will cherish him throughout his golden years. If this stunning guy sounds like the right match for your family, ask to meet him today!
Stryder
Stryder and MAGSR thank these Sponsors for their generous support:
Hi Everyone! My name is Stryder but I prefer “Stry Guy” because then I know I am not in trouble. A lucky guy, I spent 9 months with my last family, They absolutely adored me, but they had to return me to MAGSR when the older male in the house and I could not get along. I was fabulous with the resident female dog. This was a difficult decision for all of us; however, my family knew that MAGSR would take care of me and ensure that I found an incredible forever family.
In dog years, I am a teenager so, I have been building a good foundation, but I still have plenty to learn. For example, I love the water - squirt guns, hoses, lakes – but I am a big boy and I'm still fine tuning my understanding of which water is for play and which is not. According to my people, the water dish isn't a tiny pond for my enjoyment. I'm still not convinced they are correct. When not enjoying water time, I am beyond happy to dive into the toy bin and play. I adore chew toys like antlers and tough stuffed animals. I try to remember that the squeaky parts stay inside the toy, but sometimes their removal is simply too tempting and those squeaky parts accidently fall out. If you want to play with me, you are always welcome. I like to play fetch and I'm always ready for a game of tug of war as long as clear boundaries are set. Fortunate to have begun training class, I am a shiny star in obedience school. In my previous home, I was participating in two classes a week to prepare for intermediate obedience classes. I was also on track to pass my Canine Good Citizen class. I love going to class because I can ride in the car, learn new things, and get lots of treats. Continued training is what they call "critical to my success." As I can be a little nervous in new situations, they tell me it will help me continue to build confidence, I also think it will help me better understand my new family.
As a teenager, I am realizing that I like to be the boss and would prefer to be the only male dog in the house. I mean really, who doesn't want a leadership role? I got along great with my foster sister. She is a GSD too. I have also enjoyed going to doggy camp and playing with my canine buddies. Apparently, I am still very "puppy-like" whatever that means. All I know is I enjoy daily playtime, walks, and opportunities to get out my zoomies. After I get all the wiggles out, I have to admit, I love lounging - especially when everyone settles in the evening. However, as is true of all GSDs, I will thrive in an environment with structure, routine, and leadership. I have so much love to give and want to share it with my new family.
I am looking for a forever family that loves playtime, snuggles, and endless treats. Just so you know, ice cubes are my favorite. If you are looking for an active pup, an interactive guy, and a constant companion, let me know. I could be the right “Stry Guy” for you!
